Chelsea has a rich history and is a great place to stay when visiting the English capital. In the 19th century Chelsea was a bohemian neighbourhood and home to many literary greats such as Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift and Thomas Carlyle. It was also home to famous painters Dante Rossetti, and J.M.W Turner. In the 1960s Chelsea was the centre of Swinging London – then defined by styles of London’s King’s Road. Then home to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

These days the area is much more gentrified. King’s Road, Sloane Street and Fulham Road are the neighbourhood’s well known shopping streets with a mix of independent, high street to mid-range shops and exclusive stores.
