Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about booking a hotel during the day. An offer's exact terms (time slot, booking type, payment, cancellation) are always shown on the offer before you confirm.
Day use
What is day use?
Day use means booking a real hotel room or space during the day, with no overnight stay, for a set time slot (for example 10am to 5pm). You enjoy the comfort and services of the hotel, then leave in the evening.
Who is day use for?
For anyone who needs a hotel for a few daytime hours: a layover between two trains or flights, quiet remote work, a getaway for two, a rest, getting ready before an event or having a meeting space.
How long can I stay in the room?
The duration matches the time slot set by the hotel for the offer you choose (for example 9am to 7pm). You can arrive and leave freely within that slot. Overnight hours do not apply to you.
Can I book an overnight stay on RoomForDay?
No. RoomForDay is dedicated to day use: booking a hotel during the day, with no overnight stay. For a night, head to our sister brand RoomForNight (roomfornight.com).
What does the price include?
The price covers the room or space for the booked slot. Any options (breakfast, spa, champagne, parking, +1h…) are added and always itemised before you confirm. Displayed prices include tax (VAT); only possible extra fees, such as the local tourist tax, may be applied by the hotel on arrival. The lead price shown is the lowest room rate.
Booking
How do I book, step by step?
Enter your city and date, compare the offers and their time slots, pick your room, slot and any options, then confirm according to the type required by the hotel. You receive a confirmation email with your booking number.
Can I book for today or at the last minute?
Yes. Many hotels accept last-minute bookings, often for the same day. Availability is shown in real time for the date you choose.
Do I need an account to book?
Yes, an account is required to book. It secures your booking, keeps your details and lets you find or cancel your bookings, save favourites and manage your interests. Creating one is free and takes a few seconds, by email or with Google.
What is an “on request” booking?
For some offers, the hotel confirms availability before validating. You send your request, the hotel accepts or declines it, and confirmation then arrives by email. Do not go to the hotel before you receive that confirmation.
How do I know my booking is confirmed?
A booking is confirmed once you receive the confirmation email (with the hotel name, times, address and your booking number). You also find it in your account, under “My bookings”.
Can I make a special request or add options?
Yes. Options offered by the hotel (breakfast, spa, +1h, parking…) are added when you book. A specific request can be passed to the hotel; it remains subject to availability.
How many people can I add, and can I book for someone else?
The number of people is capped by the offer's capacity, shown on the listing. You can book for someone else by entering their name; the hotel may ask for an ID on arrival.
Payment & guarantees
Do I pay online or on site?
Most offers are paid on site, at the hotel. Depending on the offer, the booking may require a card imprint (guarantee, nothing charged), a deposit paid online (the balance is settled at the hotel) or full online payment (nothing to pay on site). Any amount due online is always shown before you confirm.
What are the booking types?
Depending on the hotel: instant (confirmed right away), card guarantee (a simple hold, nothing charged), deposit (part paid online, the balance at the hotel), full payment (all online) or on request (the hotel confirms before validating). The type is shown on each offer before you pay. If a booking combines several products with different types, the most demanding one applies to the whole booking (increasing order: instant, card guarantee, deposit, full payment, on request).
Why a card guarantee (card imprint)?
Some offers ask for a simple card hold to secure the booking. Nothing is charged when you book: the hold protects the hotel against an un-cancelled no-show, according to the terms shown. A card hold is not a payment.
What is a deposit?
On deposit offers, part of the amount is paid online when you book; the balance is settled on site at the hotel, at check-in. The deposit amount is shown before you confirm.
What payment methods are accepted?
Online, bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) and Google Pay through our secure provider Stripe. On site, accepted methods depend on the hotel (cash or card, depending on the property).
Is my card shared with the hotel?
No. Payments and card holds go through Stripe, securely: the card number is never shared in clear with the hotel. Your phone and email are not shared with the hotel either (they stay for RoomForDay use).
How do I get an invoice?
The invoice for your stay is issued by the hotel: ask for it at reception, as the service is provided by the property.
Arrival & stay
What time can I arrive and leave?
Each offer shows its time slot (for example 9am to 7pm). You pick the one that suits you and arrive or leave freely within those limits. The start and end of the slot cannot be changed; let the hotel know if you are running late.
What do I need to show on arrival?
Show your booking number (in the confirmation email) and a valid ID. Any balance is paid on site.
Can the hotel ask for a card imprint on arrival?
Yes, whatever the booking type, the hotel may ask for a card imprint as a guarantee for any extras (mini-bar, room service, damage). It is not a charge.
Can I come with someone?
Yes, within the capacity of the booked room or space. The hotel may check IDs on arrival. The service is for adults only: minors are not admitted.
How do I find the hotel services (parking, shuttle, spa…) and address?
Services (parking, shuttle, pool, spa, gym…) are listed on the hotel page, free or paid depending on the property. The full address is on the page and in the confirmation email.
Cancellation & no-show
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. Cancellation is free on eligible offers, up to the last minute. Always cancel from RoomForDay, never directly with the hotel. The exact terms are shown on each offer.
How do I cancel, and will I be refunded?
Cancel from the “Cancellation” page with the code received by email, or from your account (under “My bookings”). If you had paid online and the offer is refundable, the refund goes back to your payment method (usually within 3 to 5 business days depending on your bank). For an on-site payment, nothing was charged.
Can I change my booking (date, hotel, time)?
There is no direct change of date or hotel. If the offer terms allow it, cancel the booking and create a new one.
What happens if I no-show?
A no-show means not turning up without cancelling on RoomForDay. If a card guarantee was required, the full room amount may be charged through RoomForDay, at the hotel's request. A no-show may also restrict your account to a systematic card guarantee on future bookings. Always cancel on RoomForDay to avoid it.
Account & privacy
What is the account for, and how do I create one?
The account saves you time (pre-filled details), keeps your booking history, favourites and interests. Create one in seconds with your email or by signing in with Google.
I forgot my password, and where do I find my bookings?
On the login page, click “Forgot password”: a reset link is emailed to you (check your spam). Your past and upcoming bookings are in your account, under “My bookings”.
Is my data shared with the hotel?
The hotel receives the information needed for your visit (name, date). Your mobile number and email are never shared with it: they stay for RoomForDay use. Your data is not resold.
How do I manage my emails or delete my account?
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails from your account preferences or the link at the bottom of our messages (booking-related emails keep being sent). To delete your account and data, use the deletion option in your account area, under Information.
